「英語」または「英会話」になると何故か大多数の日本人は萎縮してしまうとような気がしてしまいます。私は3年間海外(とは言えない様な小さな島: The Island of Guam)に父の仕事の関係上、引っ越しました。3年間ほどですが現地校に通い、中学1年生の9月から日本に戻り、とにかくびっくりしたのは当時の英語の先生の発音でした。
いきなり、私をみんなの前に立たせ聞いたこともないような汚い英語で僕に質問してきました。内容は全く覚えてませんが、「こいつ狂ってる！」と思い、私は"I guess so."と返答したのを覚えてます。しかしもっと残念だったのが、私の言った事がわからなかったのか、しどろもどろしてしまい、そのまま授業に入っていったのをはっきりと覚えてます。
彼の立場だとしょうがないと思うのですが、いちいち突っ込まなくても、よかったのかなとも思います。悪い先生ではなかったのですが、今思い返すと若干デリカシーにかけていたのかも知れません。
もう引退されている筈だし、会う機会はないと思うのですがもし会ったら必ず謝りたいと思っております。
When it comes to "English" or "English Conversation," a majority of Japanese people are atrophied.
I had to move to a tiny island called "The Island of Guam" for three years due to my father's job. With no English background, I joined a local private school.
After three years, I came back to Katase and attended a private junior high. What I seriously want to point out is that the pronunciation of my former English teacher at that time was incredibly HORRIBLE 😢
No wonder why a lot of Japanese students have difficulty understanding and speaking the language.
The system has to be changed. The kids must learn English or any other languages from the younger age. Furthermore, other languages such as English, should be taught from kindergarten/nursery of similar ages.
